Jennn Herzberg Initial Update - October 2002
Jennn is in a school where very few people speak
any English (staff included) and she is the only English instructor. There
are no teaching materials and she is pretty much on her own as far as a
curriculum. She has an apartment, but no TV, and the nearest internet
conection is in a cafe. She is in good spirits and is looking forward to the
challenge of teaching English on her own.
She would appreciate your prayers and emails or letters of support. As you know, the SP Missons Committee will be helping with her financial support. If you wish to contribute, you can use the weekly offering envelope marked for "Missions", or you can can support her directly using the following:

Hello Friends, Family, Classmates, Professors, and Other Assorted Folk! Some of you I haven’t been in touch with for awhile…others I see everyday! Whatever our frequency of communication is, I want to share with all of you my (or rather, God’s) plans for me following my time at Concordia-Irvine! I will graduate on May 11, 2002 from this fine institution with a Theological Studies degree and a Missiology Minor…in order to complete my Director of Christian Education program requirements, I must do an internship, supervised by one of my professors here at CU. Rather than a typical, one-year internship in the United States, I am confident that God has lead me to central Europe…So, I have committed to a 2-year internship in the capital city of Bratislava in the small country of Slovakia! After 2 weeks of training in St. Louis, sponsored by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, I will fly to Slovakia in August to begin my internship. There I will teach conversational English at a school as well as do youth work in a Lutheran church in Bratislava. Though I don’t think it’s quite hit me yet, I am starting to get excited about this new adventure! Please pray for me, as well as all volunteer missionaries who commit to serve both here in the U.S. and overseas.
