Dear Brooke and St. Paul Mission Friends,
Wow!! If we could send a plane to pick all of you up to come help we
would!! The past three weeks much preparation has gone into our annual
"fabulous fundraiser" which is the Ecuador Sale of the Century (ie,
garage sale). After five years of holding this in our own driveway and our
next door neighbors our church has agreed to shut their eyes and permit us to
hold it in the church parking lot for this Saturday, May 31. (You would
never believe how much 'valuable stuff' has been donated . . . We do give God
all the praise for past, present, and future donations and help.) There is
absolutely NO WAY we could ever do this on our own.
I do apologize that I did not send this sooner . . . Nevertheless, I have no
doubt that Our God knows exactly how much funding we will be blessed with . . .
We have certainly put this before Him time and time again and continue to do so.
What I am asking you to pray for may seem 'unfocused' . . . but I don't think it
really is. I would like you to pray for a complete washing by the Holy
Spirit of all individuals working on this 'parking lot sale' on Saturday . . .
In the past we have had incredible things happen with the people that come to
the garage sale. For example, our next door neighbor that allows us to use
his driveway in the past is Muslim . . . We pray for opportunities to develop
more than a friendship with him . . . . but a friendship that will lead him to
Jesus. Last year at a very busy moment at the garage sale Husni was
helping by selling things in his driveway . . . We see this garage sale as an
incredible evangelistic opportunity to reach our community. (If we can't
get them in the sanctuary we'll start in the parking lot!!)
I am asking that you pray that hearts are prepared to show real evidence of the
love of Jesus among ourselves and those that attend the garage sale . . . . And
that the garage sale is not just another 'nice idea' fundraiser. We begin
our 'pick up' service tonight, set up tomorrow and open for business at 7AM -
5PM Saturday. Your partnering in prayer during this time is exactly the
support needed.
Our sincerest thanks for being there for us.
Together in Christ,
Elizabeth and Richard Engkjer :-) ;-) |
