The Development: 1961-1976 "Using the gift that God made me, I did the work of an expert builder and laid the foundation, and another man is building on it. Summer 1961 - Manfred Berndt is assigned as Vicar. 1961- Couples Club is founded. 1962 - St Paul Christian Nursery School Opens with an enrollment of 17 children. Marie Kubicek is first teacher. Bowling team is organized. Institute of Continued Christian Education (ICCE) is organized with the participation of St Paul and Lutheran parishes in Raritan, Oldwick, and Glen Gardner. May 1962 - Board of Christian Education is established. 1965-1968 - Robert Oettel is assigned as Lay Assistant to Pastor Opsahl on Outreach Ministry. 1965 - Congregation supports Okon Akpanekong, a Nigerian electrical engineering student. He and his family return to Nigeria in 1971 June 1967 - Meditation Garden, Free standing cross, Schulmerich Carillon are dedicated. All are memorials. December 1, 1968 - Memorial drive is dedicated to the memory of 16 members and friends. May 31, 1970 - Narthex and Education areas are dedicated to the memory of loved ones. 1970 - Pastor Edmund Pipho, retired part time pastor, assists Pastor Opsahl in experimental ministry. 1970s - Congregation supports Albert Ndandu, a political science student from Zaire, for five years. 1974 - Congregation participates in Crop Walk for the first time. November 21, 1976 - Pastor Terry Herzberg is ordained by Pastor Opsahl in special ecumenical service. | |||||||||||||||||
