1977 - Founding of Social Ministry. Martin Luther Production. June 26, 1977 - 25th Anniversary of Pastor Opsahl's ordination. September 18, 1977 - Ground Breaking for Education Building addition designed by architect Winthrop James, built by Frank Darlrymple and John Zdepski. September 25, 1977 - Pastor Terry Herzberg is installed as Assistant Pastor. 1978 - Happy Age Senior Fellowship is started. Youth Choir is formed under Linda Farber. June 25, 1978 - New Education Building of 10 Classrooms, a choir room, storage room, education office, church offices, and expanded Fellowship Hall is completed and dedicated. 1979-1983 - Congregation helps with Tang family resettlement (Vietnamese refugees). September 1979 - Education building is dedicated in Memory of Helen Henkel. September 1980 - 25th Anniversary of the Church. 1981 - Pastor Herzberg accepts call to Albany, GA. 1982 - Participation in Lutheran Youth Encounter begins. Teen Choir starts under Claire Partlow. Participation in Flemington Food Pantry begins. 1982-1983 - Pastor Bell serves as Assistant Pastor. 1983 - Chaplaincy program at Hunterdon Medical Center is established under Pastor Opsahl's leadership. 1983 - David Perkins, Choir Director is hired. 1984 - Helen Henkel Scholarship Fund is established. Jennifer Haney Koch is installed as deaconess. 1985-1988 - Crossways Bible Study. 1985 - Men's Breakfast is organized. 1986 - Charlotte Hoyda Scholarship Fund is established. 1987 - Puppet Ministry begins. 1988 - Pastor Terry Herzberg accepts call to return to St Paul Lutheran Church. Stephen Ministry begins. October 1988 - Handbell Choir is established by Cindy Thorpe-Patti. December 1989 - Bells and Hand Chimes are dedicated. January 1990 - Pastor Opsahl retires. July 1990 - Restoration of the Parsonage. Pastor Otto Reinbacher is installed as Senior Pastor. September 1990 - 35th Anniversary of the Church. 1991 - Youth Peer Ministry is established. September 1992 - Handbell Choir for 3rd-7th graders is established. August 1993 - Lisa Geltz is hired as Youth Ministry Coordinator Jennifer Haney Koch resigns as deaconess. Jennifer Riggert is hired as Bell Choir Director 1994 - St Paul Christian School adds Grades K-4 to Nursery School. 1995 - Youth Group attends the National Youth Gathering and Cross-Cultural Gathering in San Antonio, TX. 1996 Lisa Geltz Perri resigns as Youth Ministry Coordinator. John Falcone is hired as Youth Ministry Coordinator. St Paul begins support of Pastor Jeff Thormodson, missionary to Siberia, Russia. 1997 Lisa Geltz Perri returns as Youth Ministry Coordinator. St Paul begins support of Pastor Greg Seltz, Life Journeys Ministries, New York, NY. Jennifer Riggert resigns as Bell Choir Director. Cynthia Machinski hired as Bell Choir Director. 1998 St Paul 2001: Building For Christ Building Program is started to expand the Narthex, add new classrooms and build a Family Life Center. David Kisser is hired as Youth Ministry Coordinator. Contemporary worship Service is added at 9:45 am Pastor Terry Herzberg accepts call to Fairlawn NJ. St Paul begins support of Clarissa Lerch with Mercy ships Youth Group attends National Youth Gathering in Atlanta, GA. 1998-1999 St Paul Supports Jennifer Herzberg as member of Youth Encounters "Captive Free" team. 1998 - 2000 Crossways Bible Study is held 1999 - David Kisser is installed as Youth Ministry Coordinator. St. Paul Begins support of Mandi Partlow with Mission:Moving Mountains working as a Community Development and Discipleship missionary in Mugumu, Tanzania. 2000 - St. Paul adds Jeff Louw (Clarissa's husband) from Mercy Ships along Clarissa to their missionary support. September 24, 2000 -St. Paul celebrates the 45th anniversary of the church. Groundbreaking is held for the $2.75 million expansion to expand the sanctuary and narthex, air condition the sanctuary, build 8 new classrooms, and repair the fellowship hall roof. February 2001- Clarissa and Jeff Louw return to the congregation from their Mercy Ships Mission. September 2001 - St. Paul Christian school and Sunday School move into the newly constructed classrooms January 11, 2002- Certificate of Occupancy is granted for the expansion project. January 27, 2002 - Re-dedication service for the church to celebrate the completion of the building project. | |||||||||||||||||
